Era
Bench gear from the 1970s is mostly analog: discrete transistors, CRT scopes and front panels full of knobs, set up with trimmers against the service manual. That makes it very repairable, and the manuals of the time include full schematics. Age shows in the capacitors, with shorted tantalums and tired electrolytics the usual faults. GPIB only became a standard in 1975, so most instruments from this decade have no computer interface. Check the mains voltage setting, and expect to recap one that hasn't been done.
