Brand
Marconi Instruments was formed in 1936 within the Marconi group, the radio company Guglielmo Marconi founded in 1897, and took its own name after a 1941 buyout of Marconi-Ekco Instruments. Its main site was Longacres, on the edge of St Albans in England, and as part of the GEC group it made signal generators from audio up to microwave, plus counters, spectrum analyzers and voltmeters. In 1998 it was sold to IFR Systems of Wichita, Kansas. Aeroflex bought IFR in 2002, Cobham bought Aeroflex in 2014, and Viavi bought those test businesses from Cobham in 2018. That chain is why manuals and support for these generators can turn up under four or five company names.
