John Fluke founded the John Fluke Engineering Company in Springdale, Connecticut, in June 1948 and moved it to Seattle in 1952. It's based in Everett, Washington today. Fluke built its name on electrical test gear, and its handheld multimeters are the ones most people know, though it made precision bench meters like the 8842A and 8506A too. A 1987 joint venture with Philips produced the ScopeMeter, and in 1993 Fluke bought Philips' test and measurement business and rebranded the Philips PM line as Fluke, so some Fluke-badged bench gear started life as Philips designs. Danaher bought Fluke in 1998, and it went to Fortive in the 2016 spin-off, where it still sits.
