Fluke · Multimeter · c.2004–present
The 87V is the current version of Fluke's 87, the True-RMS meter at the top of the yellow 80 series, and Fluke's 80 Series V manual is dated May 2004. It's rated CAT III 1000 V and CAT IV 600 V, so it's built for service panels and building wiring as well as the bench. Two things set it apart from the 83V in the same manual. It has a 19,999-count high-resolution mode, and an AC low-pass filter that lets you read the voltage coming out of a variable-frequency motor drive. It reads temperature too, with the 80BK Type K probe Fluke packs in the box. Fluke still makes it, and Fluke warns that counterfeits of its tools are sold by third-party sellers on online marketplaces, so look hard at the printing and buy from a seller with a real history.
Options and accessories
Check the listing photos and the rear panel against this list, and ask the seller about anything you can’t see. A missing option or probe should come off the price.
The common way to kill an 87V's current range is measuring voltage with a lead still in the A or mA jack, which Fluke's manual says acts like a short and blows the fuse. Fluke also warns that counterfeit Fluke tools are sold online, with flimsy packaging, spelling errors, wrong fonts or colors as the tells.

Buying guide
We'd buy the 87V titled in excellent working condition at $244 delivered from a 100% seller. There are at least 39 for sale and most used ones ask $260–430 delivered, while a new sealed one here asks $603, so skip the Japan unit titled tested at $627, which asks more than new. Fluke tools are counterfeited, so compare the case printing with Fluke's own photos and look for scorched input jacks. Ask the seller to plug a lead into the A jack, then the mA jack, with the dial on volts, since a good fuse makes it chirp and flash LEAd.

The lowest delivered 87V here at $134 with 10 bids, so expect it to climb. It isn't titled tested and the photo shows no leads, so ask for the fuse check and a photo of it reading a 9 V battery.
