The 2400 is the base model of Keithley's 2400-series SourceMeter family, which puts a precision voltage or current source and a 6½-digit meter in one half-rack box. It sources and sinks in all four quadrants, up to 210 V or 1.05 A at 20 W, and measures down to its 1 µA range with 10 pA resolution. Keithley paired it with LabTracer software to turn it into an I-V curve tracer for diodes, LEDs and transistors. xdevs lists firmware from 1996, and Tektronix still sells it as a legacy product, steering new buyers to the touchscreen 2450. The family is big. The 2410 goes to 1100 V, the 2420 and 2425 to 3 A, the 2430 pulses to 10 A and the 2440 does 5 A, and a -C suffix adds contact check. This page covers the 2400 and 2400-C.

The xdevs 2400 arrived with a dead vacuum fluorescent display and a cracked, sticky front panel, and xdevs says display failures are common. The reading buffer is held by a lithium battery that Keithley rates for three years or more, so expect it to be flat on an older unit.

Buying guide
We'd buy the 2400 titled tested and working at $2,926 delivered, about $775 under the $3,700–4,950 band, and its photo shows it sourcing 199.999 V with the output on. There are at least 86 for sale, with US sellers here asking $2,926–5,035 and China resellers filling the band, several of them with titles copied across accounts. For an easier start, the US unit titled calibrated Jun2026 asks $3,771, while the one titled NIST calibrated with data carries a 2022 date at $4,180. Ask for a photo of the display with every character bright, since dead displays are common, and for a reading of it sourcing 10 V into a known resistor, where the measured current should match Ohm's law. Skip the $8,150 listing whose photo shows only sealed cartons.
